Michael Sharkey was born in Sydney, Australia. He has worked in publishing and reviewing, and taught at universities in several countries. He currently teaches Rhetorical Analysis and American Literature at the University of New England, Armidale, NSW, Australia. He has published several collections of poetry, most recent of which is The Sweeping Plain (Five Islands Press, Melbourne).
